Ethereum is on track to become the dominant settlement layer for global blockchain networks, according to Alex Gluchowski, founder of ZKsync and CEO of Matter Labs. In a recent statement, Gluchowski highlighted Ethereum’s strong product-market fit as the foundation for the decentralized economy.

He explained that decentralized alternatives to traditional systems like Nasdaq and SWIFT are likely to emerge. The secure position of Ethereum as a base for decentralized applications without match remains its key advantage.

According to Gluchowski, Ethereum’s credibility as a neutral platform is essential for sustaining its monetary value in decentralized financial operations. Ethereum will anchor the ecosystem because its neutral and secure architecture remains stable.

Ethereum Set to Anchor a Multi-Chain Blockchain Ecosystem

According to Gluchowski, the future of decentralized infrastructure will not depend on a single blockchain platform. Instead, Ethereum will serve as a settlement layer, supporting a vast network of interoperable blockchains.

He urged Layer-2 developers to focus on preparing for Ethereum’s next phase rather than replicating its past models. Gluchowski noted that aligning with Ethereum’s evolving architecture will be crucial as the network undergoes major changes.

Vitalik Buterin Recommends RISC-V to Replace Ethereum Virtual Machine

Meanwhile, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin proposed a significant technical shift for the network’s execution layer. Posting on Ethereum’s core developer forum, Buterin suggested replacing the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) with the RISC-V architecture.

The EVM has been essential for Ethereum’s growth, powering smart contracts and Layer-2 protocols across the ecosystem. Buterin indicated that moving to RISC-V could improve efficiency, simplify upgrades, and strengthen Ethereum’s long-term scalability.

Gluchowski confirmed that ZKsync aligns its future development with Ethereum’s architectural roadmap. He revealed that ZKsync would announce updates within two weeks, ensuring full readiness for Ethereum’s next phase.

He emphasized that ZKsync remains committed to supporting Ethereum’s dominance as the global settlement layer for decentralized networks.

Conclusion

Ethereum’s evolving role as the core settlement layer gains momentum as key industry leaders align their projects with its vision. With strong technical proposals and active developer support, Ethereum’s influence over the future blockchain landscape appears firmly secured.
