Immutable’s native token, IMX, surged more than 25% today after the company revealed a new collaboration with gaming giant Ubisoft. TradingView data shows that IMX climbed from $0.5539 to $0.6966 on Wednesday.
The two companies are working together to develop Might & Magic: Fates, a strategy card game powered by blockchain and set within Ubisoft’s popular Might & Magic universe. Built on Immutable’s Web3 framework, the game merges classic card-based gameplay with digital asset ownership.
The “Might & Magic: Fates”
According to the announcement, Might & Magic: Fates will be available on both iOS and Android devices. It introduces new gameplay mechanics, faction-driven strategies, and a wide variety of heroes and creatures from the franchise.
Additionally, players will be able to collect, trade, and customize their card decks using hundreds of available cards. This allows them to create strategic combinations based on skill and tactical decisions.
Justin Hulog, Immutable’s chief studio officer, said the game follows a free-to-play model without rigid progression limits. Advancement comes from earning in-game currency and new cards through play. For those seeking faster progress or specific cards, the option to buy from marketplaces will be available.
Hulog also confirmed that users will be able to trade their owned digital cards on supported platforms, reinforcing player control over in-game assets.
Blockchain Gaming Gains Steam
Notably, Immutable, recognized for building blockchain-powered games, will serve as the foundation for the new title. The platform has previously hosted titles such as Gods Unchained and Guild of Guardians, both of which emphasize player-owned digital assets.
Meanwhile, Ubisoft remains one of the few major publishers consistently exploring blockchain-based gaming. In October 2024, the company released Champions Tactics, its first Web3-native title, launched on the Oasys-powered Home Verse, a layer-2 network dedicated to blockchain games.
Building on that momentum, Ubisoft partnered with the Arbitrum Foundation in December 2024 to unveil Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E., a Web3-enhanced top-down shooter. The title brings together characters from several Ubisoft franchises, including Far Cry: Blood Dragon, Assassin’s Creed, Rayman, Rainbow Six, Splinter Cell, and Watch Dogs.
