QuarkChain is excited to announce the launch of the Super World Computer (SWC) Beta Testnet, marking a significant milestone in its transition to Ethereum Layer 2 (L2).

This Beta Testnet is bringing the vision of building the Super World Computer closer to reality: a fully decentralized L2 delivering unmatched scalability, security, and on-chain verifiable storage — the ultimate infrastructure for AI and dApps.

Introducing the SWC Beta Testnet

We completed development and testing for the initial SWC L2 alpha testnet last year with key features such as utilizing the test QKC ERC20 token as a custom gas token and implementing the inbox contract feature within OP Stack, allowing on-chain smart contracts to validate off-chain batches. This feature enables functionalities like a decentralized sequencer network and long-term BLOB storage through EthStorage L2.

The SWC beta testnet builds upon our previous devnet, integrating new features, including:

  • EthStorage as L3.
  • Soul Gas Token — A non-transferable gas token that allows users to pay for transaction gas fees without the immediate selling pressure of the airdropped token. This initiative is particularly aimed at those new to Web3, providing a seamless transition without the upfront cost of acquiring a gas token.
  • Enabling BLOB transactions on OP Stack L2 to support EthStorage as L3, which is essential for enabling large programmable storage with petabytes capacity.

We have also conducted extensive tests to ensure high-quality code, including unit tests, end-to-end tests, integration tests, and tests on devnet.

As we progress, this beta testnet will serve as a critical validation phase before the launch of the mainnet, ensuring robustness through extensive testing and community participation.

Beta Testnet vs. Alpha Testnet: What’s New?

What’s Next? Roadmap & Mainnet Plans

As our beta testnet nears maturity, we plan to launch the SWC L2 mainnet with the default fault-proof implementation in Q2 2025. Alongside the mainnet launch, we will collaborate closely with OP Labs on upstream features, including the inbox contract and advanced fault proof. We will also closely work with the Ethereum developer community on high-performance EVM.

As we progress with these developments, our ultimate goal of bringing the Super World Computer vision to life can be achieved, enabling a scalable, high-performance, and fully decentralized Web3 ecosystem.
