2024 has been a pivotal year for QuarkChain, highlighted by significant technological advancements, an expanded global presence, and a commitment to fostering innovation within the blockchain ecosystem. Our efforts this year culminated in unveiling the ambitious Super World Computer (SWC) vision, which aims to redefine scalability, usability, and security for decentralized applications.

New Vision Toward the Super World Computer and Rebranding
1. Super World Computer: A Vision for the Future
QuarkChain has introduced the new Layer 2 Super World Computer, a fully decentralized blockchain platform that combines unmatched scalability, advanced storage solutions, and intelligent execution mechanisms to address the limitations of current systems.
QuarkChain’s new Layer 2 represents a key milestone in building the Super World Computer. We’ve already completed development and testing for the initial Super World Computer Layer 2 alpha testnet with key features, and we will soon launch the beta testnet in Q1 2025.
In 2024, QuarkChain achieved significant technical milestones aligned with our vision for the Super World Computer. These efforts set the stage for next year’s mainnet launch, where we aim to demonstrate real-world use cases and deliver on our ambitious vision.

2. New Logo and New Website
To reflect our new vision, QuarkChain unveiled a new logo and website in November. This rebranding represents a new chapter in our journey. 3. Technology and Research Updates
2024 marked a year of significant milestones in innovation through development, which are listed below:
- Introduced the Soul Gas Token a non-transferable Soul Gas Token to ease the Web2 to Web3 transition by reducing onboarding costs.
- Unveiled an advanced Parallel EVM. Parallel EVM enhances execution speeds by utilizing parallel program execution and data reads such as Programmable Access Lists and Intelligent I/O Preloading.
- Introduced EIP-7650: Programmable access lists that enable contracts to define multiple data locations for parallel preloading. This method can sustainably reduce the latency of reading multiple data and thus lower gas costs beyond what EIP-2930 offers.
- Researched the Ecotone upgrade to the OP Stack, a critical step forward in transaction cost reduction and scalability. By integrating blob technology, the Ecotone upgrade reduced Layer 1 data fees by up to 85% compared to calldata, making Layer 2 transactions more affordable for developers and end-users.
- Successfully tested the Ecotone OP Stack with the EIP-4844 batcher on Sepolia where using BLOB is 1/6.85 cheaper than calldata and also check out the Inbox Contract for OP Stack that QuarkChain has been actively developing jointly with EthStorage.
In addition to development, QuarkChain has also published groundbreaking research on enhancing Layer 2 performance with Flat KV storage and a two-stage fraud-proof mechanism. The primary bottleneck in Layer 2 execution, the frequent computation of Merkle Patricia Tree (MPT) hashes, was addressed through the use of Flat KV storage. This optimization reduced computational overhead and improved transaction speeds significantly.
Moreover, QuarkChain, together with its ecosystem partner EthStorage, has secured Optimism grants for four key research areas and has been closely collaborating with OP Labs to achieve meaningful advancements:
1. Research on Alternative OP Stack Zero-Knowledge Fault Proof Using WASM

QuarkChain partnered with BSCS Global to build an Ethereum Layer 2 ecosystem fund to cover global English & Southeast Asian communities.

As a comprehensive Incubation Hub, BSCS offers a full-stack DeFi platform that spans all major blockchain networks. 3. QuarkChain Launched the ‘Intensive Co-Learning’ program, in collaboration with the communities LXDAO and EthPanda
The program is designed to bring together a group of builders eager to innovate in the Web3 space, with a focus on studying and developing the web3:// protocol in an open-source environment. Participants engage in systematic learning, project-based team practice, and receive guidance from core developers.

QuarkChain also supported the next generation of Web3 talent through the Young Hacker Odyssey Plan collaborating with ETHPanda.
The ETHPanda Young Hacker Odyssey Plan supported young developers with resources such as free flights, hackathon mentorship, and networking opportunities, resulting in 72 applicants, 22 selected participants, 1 ETHGlobal Bangkok finalist, and 8 award-winning projects with over $22,000 in total prizes, while fostering future contributions to the Ethereum ecosystem.
